Hi Guys,
My Ef i just bought has a faulty dash cluster i have to replace it. My Problem is the car only has 97,000 thousand klm and the cluster i bought has 127,000 when i fit the cluster will it read what the new one has or revert to the old speedo reading?. |

im not sure it can be (easily) changed back, although you have good intentions, no one will probably help, you might need to ask ford?
P.S. dash is in the interior of your car so guess what forum section this should be in ?????, and youdd get better advice in the proper section. |

you can take the dash to a tv repair shop (or any electronics shop) and get them to reinstall the EPROM on which the odo is stored. have a look in this tech doco, it explains more.

Tiny computer chip called hte EEPROM controls the amount of kms on a car. Just swap them over and you will get your 97,000 back. Check out the doco in the technical documents.

Correct me if im wrong but i have seen a guy use a laptop puter and program to wind back the klm reading i no this is highly illegal.I think from memory he plugged a cable into the diag port under the steering wheel.
But it can be done i have seen it done does anyone no what program would be used?. He has since closed his workshop thats why im asking. |

some ford dealer ships can do it my old man had a fairmont cluster changed when i fitted up to his gli he only had 69000 on the clock just need a statury decleration
