Not really. Humid weather can make the ignition coil play up intermitantly when there are cracks in the case.

what belts are you buying? i had an ea that used to throw the belt all the time and after buying a couple from the local parts shop and still have it happen, i went and got a genuine one. the genuine one fitted inside the other ones and never had a prob from then on.
when tensioning up the belt you should only have about 10mm of flex. any less is too tight. try hunting for a manual ecu. if you know anyone with a manual ea, ask to borrow theirs for a day or two if they can afford to. wrecker won't want much for one these days anyway. good luck. nothing worse than intermittant problems.
