Hey guys,

Tonight i started the car up and from under the sump area im hearing this noise, its a tick/knock sound, now it only started after i put some of that nulon lifter free up treament stuff in,

Would it be possible i have to much oil in the engine for it to handle

i know you said its coming from the sump but maybe its the lifters/HLA's
when i put my cam in my lifters were noisy as for a week or so. when cold they were fine but when my engine got warmed up f**k were they noisy , i thought they were f**k but after a good cruise and oil change there all sweet :D

if that noise is coming from the bottom end? it could be a crook oil pump ? ... its hard to tell from those vids... more than likely a tick or tap noise would be a dud lifter..

i just changed the oil in my mrs au which had a noisy top end even after a lifter and rocker change..
so we went from penrite hpr 10 to nulon 10W-30 Hi-Tech Fast Flowing Engine Oil and suprisingly the top end is much quieter now...

ive been using penrite for years but just thought ill try something different and so far seems to be better..

Hmmm sounds good troyman, see when i bought the engine it had a split in the seam of the sump and and leaked out, so the engine sat with no oil in it for about 3 to 4 months, so my first thoughts were seeing tho it had no oil and wasnt started for the peroid of time that the lifters and s**t were dry,

But i wil try that oil troyman and let ya no how i go with it

I was using the penrite on my old engine, 20w 50, but seeing thought i didnt now what oil was used in the one i bought i assumed the oil i was using wouldnt hurt, but now i have assumed rong

Hi frd906n...
i had the same problem with my NC FAIRLANE with the 4.0L engine. i thought it was the oil pump which was f&%cked...but then i removed the inspection plate for the transmission (where the bell housing bolts to the rear of the motor) & found out that one of the Torque Converter Bolts was VERY loose!!!

Have a look @ those first before doing what i did, & remove the whole engine out. lol
PS: Let me know how u go!
