As Troyman said, be very careful with aftermarket dizzys. Just fitted one to my EL and it cost me my aux shaft. The drive cog was sitting lower than the original, and when I tightened the clamp it caused the dizzy cog to rub into the block where the drive shaft goes to the oil pump. As you can no longer buy aux shafts new, it is just another reason to make sure dizzy is going to work. As for my new dizzy it now sits on my work bench. Recond s/h one in my car now!

Have you considered it might just be the tfi module on the side of the dizzy? You replaced the coil etc, so worth a look. Dizzys tend to be pretty reliable, tfi modules not so.

Pity you are over the other side of adelaide from me. Got heaps of used but good tfi modules. With a bit of heatsink compound, very easy to install. Good luck with it tho

An EB Series II would be MPI right? Im fair sure mine is ! That looks like a good price there and I would say that it IS MPEFI. The Genuine Distributor is $580.00, the reason we don't sell them anymore. tell me why ford have these rediculous prices? |

Propper dwell adjustment? I thought that everything was taken care of by the TFI module?
Cheers ToranaGuy

Well when My EL chewed the aux shaft out I went to my locol ford dealer to get a new one. When I found out the price I went to Motor Traders. They sell the same stuff, but usually are cheaper. They showed none available, so I rang my Ford dealer to get one, but first checking availability on the computer. It showed none available, and no date set to restock. The guy said they were as good as obsolete. I can only go on what I am told by these places, but I assume they would have no problem selling me the part if they could get it. I would have much prefered a new one.

Yep spot on i did the same on a el, had it serviced (which i should have done but was flat out at the time) the mechanic put in a aftermarket one which wasnt a ford bosch and he stripped the aux shaft cos the gear on the end was slightly bigger. I got it home pulled the whole water pump and timing case off the front replaced the aux shaft put it back together first 10 seconds on restart was the sound of a new $130 shaft being eaten alive! I then knew why it got chewed out in the first place. Had to do the same thing again and replace the dizzy for a proper one so just be weary!
