Hey all
I have an EA engine that I need to get some more horse power out of. But I am restricted by a few rules like: =< 10:1 comp 2 barrel carb....no injection can only use OEM manifolds What i am thinking of doing to is: - Using ef/el xr6 tickford head, cam - Have some dencko? pistons available at a mates place.. The engine is for Stockcar (full contact racing). Any other tips is gladly appreciated. I am trying to do this on a tight budget...LOL

It looks like a carby setup but it is centrally fuel injected into the throttle body via 2 huge a** injectors

i reckon get a better cam than a stock XR one (unless it must be factory) and probably use a newer head to combat the cracking head/blowing head gasket problem with 3.9s

I was wanting to use an AU XR6 tickford engine. But in Christchurch the cost is quite dear. From other stockcar drivers the AU XR6 is quick for stockcars once gears and diff setup correctly.
EA 's where used alot and when done up are quite competive. Plus cheap motors. As long as I can bet the V6 holdens i will be happy Most of the parts i mentioned early are available to me at no cost or very low cost. hence why i was asking how they would go. Have attached a picture of a stockcar.

=< 10:1 comp 2 barrel carb....no injection can only use OEM manifolds Learn to read kids, hes not using the CFI!!! I'd go the EF-EL XR head route if you dont want to do any work to the head, you just want to bolt it on and go. If it's getting ported and what not, dont waste money on the Tickford, they have smaller port sizes to promote intake velocity (more work to port them!) and come with an oversize exhaust valve stock. I'd also be talking to cam manufacturers, and find out what they can offer you in regards to a cam thats going to be suitable for the carby, id imagine a carby motor has completely different needs when it comes to camshafts... thats where theres some gains over the competition to be made, with the cam. edit: just read Jose's post... great minds think a like
