i am about to work the 4.0l in my eb but i am pondering about the transmission, leave the 4sp auto and add a hi-stall, or just throw the auto over the back fence and get a 5sp manual, i have never bothered with auto's before so i dont know what a hi-stall is worth compared to a 5sp conversion, i have a 88 laser needs some work if anyone wants to swap a for a conversion.

it would be cheaper to MODIFY your standardstall converter and yet get the same results all by changing the fins (this is no backyard job though) take it to a stally joint and theyll do it for you, my old mans done it for his 351 clevo (modified it to 2500rpm) didnt cost all that much, 8 years down the track and its still perfect!!!
