Tell me if im nuts here... Currently i have my99 wrx which im looking to sell for round 12k What i would like to do is then buy a falcon, i was looking at either an EB or ED (preferably a lighter falcon, if there is such a thing, lol) and spend the money i got from the sale on the car. So here is the wishlist and let me know if its possible... - Id like a DOHC from a BA series or later, ground up rebuild with all forged, balanced, blueprinted internals. - 2 turbos.... (t28's maybe?) suitable manifolds and downpipes of course - aftermarket ECU (of course, but what do you recommend?) - Heavy duty clutch (Again what do u recommend?) - manual gearbox (Striaght cut gears?) - Uprated suspension (will be used for track work) - twin 3" straight thru exhausts - bucket seat - as much weight reduction as i can do - locked diff Basically i dont want to chase massive power but i want it to be torquey, for drift... I used to with a 180sx but i want to do it with an aussie car! The engine will be done slowly as i can afford it but the rest of the work would be done first. What are your thoughts on a dry sump system? Just a f@rt thanks all! steel

Just rebuild the original motor and slap some snails on that. It will save you $10,000 oevr the BA

Buy a good clean 5 speed ED then take it to Jim Mock to do a bit of work on it.....Tell him what you want out of the car performance wise and I'm sure he'd be able to work something out.
The only thing is that finding a 5 speed EB or ED might be difficult so you may have to consider a T5 conversion.

How would the T5 stand up to that torque though? i can source a BA series engine for $800 (mates rates). Its just that i was always in favour of the dohc due to fuel vs power per litre. Thats what i always thought... more efficient combustion. Dont get me wrong, i am keen to do this but i dont want to throw money away when something could have been done for a lil bit more money but in general be more stable and longer lasting? Anyways... Keep the thoughts rolling in!

where is this jim feller and how do i get in contact with him? Any thoughts on the dry sump though? be cause i know for a fact that the earlier model falcons particualr the V8's when accelerating could often cause the oil to hit the back of the sump and starve the engine... i know a dry sump kit is worth a mint but i was just after thoughts

Why do you want a s**t boxcar? the handling after the Rex will be shocking, buy a BA, and do that up?

yeah ba's handle so much better ... Maybe he likes them maybe he thinks they look better and dont weigh fukn 1700kg.

Keep it simple and run a standard xr6t setup. No twin turbos or aftermarket crap needed.

A had a 4wd complex... believe me if had the money to buy a decent 4wd i would have bought an Evo, but the wrx's do not handle as well as you think they do. Up to about the 04 model they have UNBELIEVEABLE understeer which to this day after extensive suspension tuning, cannot iron out, sure its made it better... but i just want a rwd car that i can have fun in and give some back to those jap drifters, aussie style!

I was thnking weather or not i could duplicate that FPR drift car... but whats the cost in that versus something like this? I just want to be able to stand out of the crowd... no offence to the crowd! just something different thanks for the input feelers keep them coming! steel

thanks for the link! I didnt see any turbo kits though... Would the hassle of a twin turbo setup be worth its weight compared to a single snail?

twins wont help out at all. stick with the stocker gt3540.
i would be using all the stock ba turbo gear. the ba turbo motor will make easy 400fwkw with tuning injectors and an intercooler. as for the 5 speed box i would not bother as with any decent amount of torque it will sh.t its self. go the t56 6speed the stock 6er will hold more power than you will make. a dry sump isnt really needed in the ba motor just an upgraded billet pump does the job well. once you get the ba turbo motor in the car and get it all running power addons will be a sinch valve springs injectors wgate actuator...ect

The T5 won't stand up to any reasonable amount of horsepower, your much better off with a six speed T56. No need for twin turbos either, the single factory GT35/40 is good for as much power as you could possible need. Good luck turning a live axle boxcar into a drift car though..
