Im going to have another crack at hiding my engine bay wiring this weekend in the EA.
Has anyone else done it? Got any pics or tips on where to hide it all? I think Im going to put the relays from near the battery and wires leading into them under the guard panel and route the wires that usually go along the firewall to under the engine along the K frame where they cant be seen. I know in the EB2 onwards its easy to hide the firewall wiring underneath the scuttle panel with the wiper motor but the EA has that open so it would look messy. |

You can drill a hole in the scuttle panel and run it under the plastic that covers the wiper motor. With the EA, this part is uncovered when the bonnet is open, its still a bit of work but easily doable. Check out ebmanul's car on AFF.

hiding it involves lots of chopping of the loom and in places new looms will have to be made to hide it completly, not somthing to be done on the weekend. I suggest you get another EA loom, mod it, then fit it to your car over a weekend

Have done a similar thing to an xf Fairmont Ghia. Need several wwiring looms if you intend keeping factory colours, a good soldering iron, good quality wire crimpers (not supercheap ones, something like nipex) and a s**t of time and patience. As fordzatmyplace says, not a weekend job. Easier (and still looks pretty good IMO) is to buy different diametres of the black convoluted tubing and tuck your wires away in that gear.

Thanks guys, I know what Im doing in regards to chopping and modding the loom.
Just wondering if anyone had done it to an EA before and where they ran everything and if they have photos. |

I made a start on this today.
Yes I know the engine bay needs a repaint. |

While you're at it, why not sand back the engine bay & have it resprayed. 6 or more cans should do the job then cut it back to a mirror finish, the DIY way.
hiding those wires takes alot of time so hope you have the Patience.

Ive got nothing but time on my side at the moment or I wouldnt bother. The ECU that I am running doesnt get released until early April.
The engine bay and possibly the whole car will get painted properly (not with spray cans) next time the engine is out. Either when the clutch dies, I changed to auto or I fit my rods and new pistons. |

Hey Dan, Make sure you make up a decent heat shield for your brake booster and cylinder as the plastic HATES too much heat and it doesn't do the brake fluid much good either

Not really, the booster is metal. Of the 3 turbo falcons I have owned previously -EB, EA and AU- I havent had a problem with brake boosters. But thanks for your input. |

Heating up the brake fluid isn't a good thing. even if it says it can withstand heat at a curtain point.
Then again you got it all your bases covered then thats good. by the way, what happen to the other turbo cars?
