the head gasket in my eb2 has blown so want to get the head faced
figure i may as well shave it... whats the highest compression that these engines can support on pump? i use gas 99% of the time, so not too fussed about it being able to run on 95RON petrol n s**t would 10-10.5:1 be out of the question?

i wouldnt go too silly
an AU headgasket is supposed to raise comp by as much as 0.5, so just 10-20 thou off the head with that gasket should see fairly good comp |

its all good, im not planning to go too silly
but im curious to know the highest (within reason) compression ratio that these engines will support

With an AU gasket 20 thou off the head would be nice
You could go more but if it does another headgasket or warps the head in the future and you wanna get it shaved again, you could run into issues with too much being taken off the head and therefore needing a new head Not to sure how much you can take off safely if running it on 95/98, but guys running LPG have taken over 40 thou off the head and even decked the block a few thou and use an AU gasket so compression would really be up there. Check this thread http://www.fordmods.com/ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/shaving-the-head-t75749.html?hilit=head%20shaving |

yeah i saw that thread after putting this up lol
using an eb2 engine, what would the final comrpession be with 20thou shaved and the AU gasket? how much is it raiser per 10thou, cant for the life of me remember lol i thought comp was raised 1 unit per mm shaved, but beena long time since i shaved the head on my 202!

For cyclindrical bits its simple, as working out the volumes is just pi.r^2. For the head it depends on the shape of where you are shaving it from and as you go further you gain less compression for each mm taken off (as its roughly hemispherical in shape).

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays? AU,factory fitted tickford kit/IRS, t5,Sports ryder/KYB: gone. |

yeah i understand that, but i know theres a rough figure to use
im not shaving centremetres off, so the shape of the chamber shouldnt really affect things unless there is s**t being shaved off
