Well depends what you mean by that. If your catalytic converter is rooted (old and not doing it's job) then it would be ideal to replace it...stock or hi flow it doesn't matter.

If your cat is good and you want performance, it is not necessary. Should still get good flow out of stock, but it is best to get the cat modified with 2.5" outlets.

So if I get any old stock standard falcon, and put a high flow cat on it I'll get 4rwkw?
Don't think so.

no, if you have a full exhaust system and change the cat to a highflow you will gain 2-3rwkw

I would like to see them, if indeed said gains are made I might just invest in one.
This is a dyne before cat but with full exhaust and then with cat replaced?

imo, on a dead stock engine it will make no gain at all..
i just took off the factory exhaust on my au ghia and fitted pacemaker extractors, 2 1/2" high flow cat and redback 2 1/2 system and made no gain in performance..
if anything made the engine less punchy off the line..
ive done exhaust mods to every car ive owned, but always done it bit by, catback first, then extractors a few weeks or months later and cat last..ive never really done a dyno comparison but this time it was all done at once and i think its all a placebo effect..lol..
