Yo chaps
I have a VCT head on EF block in EF Fairmont & runs nice, but the oil pressure gauge on the dash reads sky high in the red right up the top. I have standard ECU and the EF grade oil- slightly thicker than the grade the cap on the VCT head recommends and the AU oil pressure sender for the VCT unit. I'm not sure, does anyone have any ideas?

oaky thanks mate..and I can still have the line to the VCT running with an EF Sender? Also another qicky, lol. The cars performance is no better than when I had a stock EF head. I thought it would be a bit better at least, it's definitely smoother running. I still have standard ECU and the VCT isn't connected, is this the problem do you think? It might be running slightly lean also as the extractors/ cat get a bit too hot I think.

yes, you unscrew the au sender from the oil line adaptor fitting and screw the ef one in..

without the vct operating it will only have gained top end power, if you want more down low you will have to make it operational, it shouldnt be running lean, but the vct au does run a 350kpa fuel reg compared to the std ef 275kpa reg....

what fuel rail and reg are you using???

I'm using the AU VCT one with the rail and new AU injectors. I'm not sure it might be fine. Just seems the headers are making alot of heat compared to the past. I wont worry about it for now, probably fine. Thanks for the help mate.

I put the timing chain tensioner in broken thinking I could get away with it and it's hard to tell because of the power steering bracket, but hot oil is coming out around here under pressure in a fair amount landing on the side of the block and giving of the slight burning smell and heat which made me think the car maybe running lean. Would a broken tensioner internally although done up tight cause this? Stupid me!
