hey ladies
I looked tho all the other posts about plugs yadda yadda but i want to know the best plug for a high performance aplication. Im running a Crane hi-6s and a LX 91 coil im also runningn higher comp and 98 fuel. Timing is easly changed n stuff due to aftermarket ecu... I have some ICE 8mm leads which im looking like replacing with the 9mm's soon, there about 3 yrs old now http://www.iceignition.com.au/ Im also running the super 4 poster plugs which have been ok, but im not 100% happy with them, i think there not ideal. Good idea, but not really working for me. I was thinking irridiums are a good choice, NGK's? and i remember the BA series 2 XRT plugs were apparantly quite good also. Any other ideas? What kinda temp range and gap should i run?

Yeah ive fitted a set of BA XR6T iridium plugs to the EF and it made a hell of a difference. And with changing the leads go either 8 or 9mm Eagle F1 spiral cores and also the 8mm Top Gun spiral cores are good as well.

I dont run iridiums but I use the NGK stock pulgs. I reckon they are pretty good. The iridiums are better but a bit more expensive.
Also dont JMM use a decent plug that a few people here would recommend. I cant remember what its called or the part numbers. |

NGK Ford iridiums or 'Denso' as they say on the plug sell for about $75 for the six
The Eagle F1 spiral core leads depending how big and chunky you want them can start from $65 to $120 for the best of the series in 10mm 8mm Top Gun spiral cores are about $75 also. Best place to order them would be through Sprint auto Parts.

i can get the duck's nuts 9mm kick a** ice leads for about 120 so i thik ill go for them.
Ill prob get some of thoes "denso" plugs tho. is the gap and temp correct?

this might be a silly question, but where exactly have they hidden the plugs on the ba motor? my guess is under that plastic thingy, but i can't see where the ht leads go...

the ba has coil on plug ign
so the coil is above the which is ontop of the head. so yes the plugs and teh 6 coils are under the plastic

Ill prob get some of thoes "denso" plugs tho. is the gap and temp correct? Yeah if you have LPG tell them when you order em so that they give you the LPG spec, which is the different gap. If that isnt an issue then they should be gapped properly none the less. And the difference isnt huge, but better leads and plugs will give your car a much better throttle response due to the plugs and leads increased ability to spark  or so i think. But they did go better on my EF and i had the Bosch super 4's before hand

ive got the super 4's now and i found them better then the ngk XR plugs. The leads i have now are ok, but building up reistance. Im trying to eliminate a unburnt fuel problem, and the leads are the only thing i havent replaced in 3 yrs

Exactly, there is just so much hype out there about 'performance' plugs. IMO just make sure you run decent brand plugs, NGK are my pick, gap them correctly and run the correct heat range and you should be fine. |
