You all have helped me out on this and I do take all things on board. Yes Timmy, I was lucky to score a HP Hose from a trading place in Brisbane for $20.00 it did take some doing to find them though.

Yes, I also purchased a new nut and will be working on the old HP hose when I take it off, it will give me practice and knowledge for possible next time.

Yep, have an O ring and new oil and steering fluid. Hopefully not too much will be lost. Will do the job on Thursday. Cheers, Peter

Awesome info thanx, Isn't life so much easier with the net, I tell my kids they don't know how lucky they are have so much info. I would have still tried repair my power steering line regardless but more than likely would have damaged the first attempt without Ur info. So thanx again for taking the time [post this. The guy at ford didnt even know that you could buy the fitting, Fords are a great make of car but our dealer here in beenliegh must only like people rolling in cash. People like myself that hesitate at buying a 400 hose are looked down upon. On the positive side as long as most people view fords as s**t boxes we can enjoy having a reliable form of transport with a huge range of spares that can be collected from buying a whole car that someone could sell. Whole reason fords got such a bad rep from my gen was when a problem arose on the ford it had to be done rite an things were so hard to get to, so not only did ur work come back to bite you it was a prick of a job to do where the Holden were very accessible. people should ask themselves why were the fords used as taxis more than most others, answer the best possible choice if you want to earn money. Took me 35 yrs to realize that I to was once a ford critic so glad I saw the light.

Sorry for not giving you an update, I thought I had.

I replaced the HP hose, very easy with the right flared spanner, similar looking spanner when doing bleeding brakes at the bleeder valve.

Had some oil come out of the steering pump, had to use a collection bowl between the alternator and steering pump, used a heavy cloth to stop any fluid going into the alternator during the process.

All good again.

I've temporarily fitted another steering pump from a wrecked car, so far so good. In the interim I'm pulling the steering pump from my car apart to replace seals, gaskets and bearings.
