I have just brought a EF falcon EX TAXI for $1,150 with rego, it has 778,000K's on the clock . It does need a few things doing to it for a RWC like brakes shudder alittle bit and the steering wheel has came lose from the metal ring at the top (not too bad though) apart from that it is in good nick. compared to my EB series1 falcon which is in very good condition it beats it on the hwy keep having too slow down as it wants to cruise at over 130kph and you dont feel like you are doing it :o .

Cheers Paul

Any sydney siders know of the Flash Automotive XD (red with a black bonnet and XE ESP front clip). It started off as an ex cab with around 1,600,000kms on it then was rebuilt and turned into a 10 second car.

I have an ex taxi ef gli i bought for parts, it has 704,000 kms on the clock - god knows how many motors, trans or diffs it seen, but i can say it's totally stuffed and i only got it for the lpg.

My every day car - EF gli has 295,000 and is on engine number 2 thanks to a little hole in the sump.

You guys are embarrassing..." ive seen this or my mates got that". just admit that its YOUR car that has so many km on it. you tried to pinch a few pennys and bought an ex cab, then you post up a few threads on how to fix everything because its falling apart.

Sometimes penny pinching doesnt work, its better to pay a few bob more and get a lower km model. some people just dont think things through

Nothing wrong with X-cabs, in some senses a better propersition if you are going to do up a car. why spend big dollars on a car that you are basically going to rebuild any way?

As for my daily driver, an AU Falcon I paid $1400 with 798,000kays on the clock on the original motor and still going strong. In the last 2 months have been to Sydney twice and to Melbourne once with no problems at all.
Yeah she might have a few kays on her but she's mine, and all paid for.

My wifes AU Futura has all the same gear as mine (ABS & Cruise) 140,000Kays and I paid $14,000 for it 2 years ago!!! and we are still paying for the bloody thing......

makes you wonder doesnt it?

hehe, my ef has 340200km on it now, still original but its got a 5 speed behind the engine now.
have been in a few cabs lately with 670,000 (au 3s) and a couple of years ago some el's with 890,000km on em and they werent too bad still. saw a series 1 au forte on lpg at fowels with 779,000km on it but it was passed its use by date. we also had a ge sigma from new and those odometers used to clock over every hundred thousand kays - it wound over many many times :)

Can someone award this guy the most ridiculous comment of the year?

In order to do that, they'd have to clear the backlog of the stupid comments you make on a daily basis mate, and ingnore the 100's of comments you'd make in meantime.

Anyone else see the irony in a bloke who drives a commonwhore saying that he'll be laughing when he drives past one of us broken down on the side of the road? Mate, you'll be laughing for all of 5 mins before your oil guzzling POS commonwhore breaks down half a k up the road, and then we'll be ones laughing, cos ur an arrogant prick that no-one likes!

Anyways, back on topic, my uncle had an XE S-pac station wagon that he sold a couple of years ago, it had like 900,000k's on it. It wasn't a cab tho, he lives 50 k's out of town, and goes into town at least once a day, every day of the week. It was a manual, still had original engine I believe, but gearbox died once I think..... The engine bay still looked virtually brand new, interior was fooked (4 kids'll do that to a car!).

I know its not ford but I replaced a gearbox in a Landcruiser, HZJ75, 1994 model, its 3rd box and the owner said its been around once, and he bought it new, it was up to 350,000 at the time. it was a pilot vehicle, and he basically lived in the back of it.
