i just cleaned my ISC on my EF XR6 .. took it for a run.. still had troubles with the car nearly stalling .. anyway got near home and everytime i let off the accelerator.. it would just stall.. it seems like it did not want to idle

got home.. turned her over.. starts up.. then stalls.
did i accidentally touch something that i shouldnt have?
it is as if the car is not idling at all... i start the car, car turns on.. revs for a second.. drops down to 100rpm and stalls.

:S
any help will be greatly appreciated.

Id check all the plugs, look for missing vacuum hoses, and run diagnostics on the computer.

Dont know. Maybe the ISC was stuck open and now that you have cleaned it it closes all the way so you need to open the butterfly more.

it was doing it on both... what did ur mechanic say they did?

what i did was just cleaned the ISC and put it back.. and then took it for a spin but it kept stalling.

i was pretty sure it had to do with the idle screw .. as i checked everything out (leads/plugs/hoses). but i dont understand why it would stall and not just run at low revs? ... strange s**t

I'd check to make sure the ISC is still working. Sometimes when cleaning them, you can get some fluids inside that screws them up. If your ISC fails then you car will not idle, unless you up the idle speed (which you have done). I'd say the ISC is stuffed. When you get a new one make sure you follow the proper procedure to set base idle. I think it is deisconnect ISC plug and place a 0.75 (or is it a 1.1)mm feeler guage between the idle adjust screw and set idle to 600rpm.

cheers
Scott

I had a similar prob to yours but was only stalling on gas, turned out the earthing wire was disconnected and was causing it to stall everytime i switched it to gas.

The problem you have will be your 02 sensor. I had a similar problem... Check your fault codes to seen if your 02 sensor is running lean.............
