I think i may have a hole in my muffler. more or less my car is off all night and when i get up to go to trade school in the morning my cars exhaust sounds like a stock one. after about 20mins on the road it starts to sounds like a "Quiet" Sports Exhaust (If that makes any sense) it just aint as quiet as a stock exhaust.
So could this be because of a hole in my muffler?

Cheers.

Unless there's a joint, perhaps to the muffler that expands when hot, and lets a little of your exhaust gas out of it.

Check the slip joint on the rear of the second muffler underneath your car. I had mine fail, and sometimes when going over bumps the car would become louder. I late found out that the joint had failed and the talpipe was just sitting in front of the muffler, as it was rusted to bits.

Cheers

if it is just something like a rusted pipe what is the chance that it is doing damage to the car?

Funny you should mention this, I got a brand new vanilla system put on my car today, I thought all I would need done is the rear muffler but once the car was up on the hoist I had a look, and there was cracks and leaks everywhere, from front to back. I had no idea how bad the system was but when you have a closer look it really is s**t.

Get the car up on some stands or something and look at the pipes and mufflers for discolouring, because this is a sign of leaking exhaust gas. Also, check all the joints between pipe and muffler, because as good as the may look from afar, they are probably far from good, especially with cars of our age. If you start the engine, drive to work and only get the exhaust warm, the condensation is going to sit and rust the s**t out of the guts of your mufflers, and they will need replacing.

My car is quieter than I have ever heard an E-Series now. Most people go to efforts to make their car louder, but I appreciate the silence because my radio's not that loud haha.

Cheers

true, but mine didnt sound like s**t cos it wasn't a hole. When my tail section ripped off the cat back, i still drove it for a bit over a week till i changed the exhaust (used wire to keep it up, so it wouldn't fall on the axle or ripped off entirly onto the road).
With the tail section off the exhaust, it minused a muffler so it sounded nice and it was the same sound as my redback with one muffler and a reso, just now the redback is rw and completly safe.
The exhaust man said to me, does it sound better and i said no, sounds the same but now its a new exhaust and complete.

It could sound like a sports exhaust if it has been totally taken off. But if its just a hole, it will sound like a***.

I agree with the sounding like a*** comment.

My XH after the head gasket was done was running like a dog on gas, backfired a few times, and hey presto - at least 19 holes into the mufflers and blew the side of the cat out.

IMO you would have to be deaf to not hear a decent sized hole in an exhaust.
