I'd say something has dropped into the path of the timing chain! Is the little ball from the PCV still in place? ;)

Unknown yet ..

problem with it .
no spark .

tested everthing .
used the starter relay to turn the motor over, and to see if the rotor button turns ..

it didn't .
took dizzy out .
looks fine,
cranked it again, the worm gear that turns the dizzy not going ...

took rocker cover off .

yup, valves work, chain still tight ...

looking down the front of the head .
can see that the cog does not look straight .
removed timig case ...
thats the problem ...

But I mean, they are pretty stong bolts ... the NL has only done 130,000kms ..

Meh, its going to have a full rebuild now anyway ...

I'll work it a bit :)

I have seen something like this before on an EB Falcon except it was the bolt on the camshaft gear that had sheared through causing a major valve crash & it also shattered the timing chain cover in the process, The motor was a write off & had to be replaced as a result.

I had a similar prob but not as bad when i was changing my cam the timing chain tensoiner was stuck and the cahin didnt tension so when it started it made an awfull noise we rectified that problem. Then around 1000klms l8r i broke down out the road and wat happend apparently when the chain slipped it chipd a couple of teeth an the cam gear and fel into the sump which the oil pump picked up and seased which stripped the teeth off the side of the auxilary shaft! Its alot of work to get to that little sucker! have fun bud
