Hey all after i fixed my head gasket on my EL falcon there seems to be a problem with the temperature being higher? Instead of hovering half way, it now sits closer to 3/4????
Whats causing this?? ive changed the thermostat same one as before. People have bneen stating that it could be the gasket getting into the radiator as i didnt block the coolant channels when sanding off some of the gasket? About 3/4 came off with the head anyway? thanks |

Did you flush out the cooling system? or did you just top it up after doing the head gasket? Could be that the radiator is full of crap.

completely flush the system,,should do it once it's all put back together.
i ran water through mine till it ran clear, then reversed the flow and did it again,,did you also replace the over flow hoses,,i should of but only just did it a few weeks ago and it's running a lot cooler..

if you have got oil in the water, then you definately should get the rad. proffesionally flushed.. only costs about 80 bucks.
don't just run water through it cause it won't get the oil off.

sweet so its a good idea to take the radiator out and take it to a radiator joint to get it cleaned out? Or would reverse flushing it myslef do the trick?

well, if you can, taking it out yourself & getting it prof cleaned at a rad joint would be the best bet - i think if you take it in, then the costs are far less - so might be worth a shot

If you are sure the radiator has not been flushed, then i would suggest you just pull it out yourself and go to a radiator shop. If that dosen't solve your problem, then take the whole car in. You might save yourself some money that way.
their are other things that could be wrong, but i would suggest you do this as a first point of call.
