I've cut the excess off my ef intake getting rid of the tube that runs over the extractors. mainly for asthetic purposes (no torque control> false advertising :P).
Just wondering if anyone knows what the purpose of this extra tube off the intake is for ? hot air stove maybe ? less induction noise ?
nevertheless it's gone.

2 reasons, yes, the lower induction noise, and for volume of the intake between the air filter & the throttle body. Basically.

Heat sink/dissipater might be another reason they put it there. plus the fact it was a newer model at the time, a larger more enticing appearance in the engine bay may attract buyers.

I knew when I first pop the bonnet for the first time on an EF.

That would be my guess. Hides the leads and throttle cable to neaten things up a bit.
