i've got pacemaker 4499s into 2.5" piping to hotdog out to a 2.5" redback muffler. Its not really that loud even before i got the hotdog put on it wasn't. Just wondering if anyones run just a hotdog in the centre and what it would sound like?

run a single straight through muffler.... thats it, will sound great.
Doesnt matter if its offset or inline, essesntially it will always sound like a Ford 6. |

hotdogs are just pretty much pipes with baffle-ing around them... dont do much to muffle the sound..
just adds a crispier raspy note i found ... seems to eliminate a bit of drone im running 3" with just 2 hotdogs ... and its not too loud

Mates EF runs no muffler, just a single hotdog at the rear. Its loud.... and it sounds like a 2stroke. No note at all. My system is one muffler, no res, and we both agree mine sounds 50 times better, though it is quieter.

I too am running just one muffler, but i was wanting a little bit more noise. Would it be best to take out the muffler? or is that somewhat illegal???

i just got the rear muffler flanged and unbolted it. idle sounds like a v8 and when driving its frigin loud but rumbles i'll try get a video clip of it with muffler and without

i got the same thing, a hot dog, 2.5 inch system into a mandrel bent muffler, im thinking about pulling out the hot dog, seems useless to me...

i originally only had the rear muffler and when i added the hotdog it made next to no difference maybe just a tad deeper thats all

My EBII has one muffler, it has a very nice note and yet thankfully i didn't notice it when i was driving it. It sounds exactly the same as an s-pack EBII i listened to recently, which makes me wonder if one muffler is standard.
Peeking inside a "supercat" muffler the other day it seems a variance on the hotdog. It had a straight through central pipe which was fluted (angled holes all along).

i honestly don't know what sort of redback muffler they put on it coz its big and the inlet and outlets are opposite if you get what i mean i dont know if its straight through or not i'm thinking about getting a lukey muffler to replace it but never used lukey before and don't know what one sounds the best on the I6

Lukey sound awesome and flow very well. I have an older type Lukey under my car, which means its quieter than the straight thru types, but it has a very nice note. Ive been told that the newer mufflers are deeper and louder... exactly what you want.
