as per above
i think i need new ones as it feels like my car is missing when at idle its an exchaser ef and i only replaced the plugs last week and it still feels lumpy as hell. totally rebuilt engine and everything is new but i think its the leads can anyone tell me what to look for and how much a new set of good ones would cost?

if the car is 'missing' then chances are it could be your leads. to test themn take them off the car one at a time and measure the resitance between both ends. if the resistance is insanely high then yes the do need to be changed. also on the topic there not overly expensive i paid $35 for a set of bosh leads

doing a resistance check on ur leads doesnt always indicate a good lead, when u test them there is no current flowing through them so they can some times show good resistance but when flowing current they can then get high resistance.
check ur whole ignition system coil dizzy, ecu if need be |

check ur whole ignition system coil dizzy, ecu if need be if there was no current flowing throught them during the test you would get an open circut result. the has to current flowing to messure the resistance. |

well easy test is to pull the lead off when the engine is running and hear it its sparking to earth or to the plug.
if so and there is still a missfire then its either a plug or low compression |

maybe i should just change the leads anyway
is it a hard job? how long do leads actually last and is it worth buying the 9 or 10 mm ones?

can last well past 100,000km well bigger doestnt mean better, means more resitance, go for what the car specifies

Just thank yourself you dont own an eb or ed. Lovely designed intake manifold makes it nigh on impossible to change leads and dizzy cap
