Disconect the negitive terminal from the battery and put your foot on the breaks, any power in the system should exit the car via the break lights. this as far as i know should reset it.

All that your really doing by disconnecting the battery is resetting the KAM (keep alive memory) its not going to make the car run any better, infact it will run worse for about a week until it re-learns and will be back to where you were before it was reset.

Then why would you want to reset it? Are ther any positive outcomes?

if it seems that it's learnt something it shouldn't? Ie it's stuck on an error code that's no longer relevant (you've fixed the problem) or something like that

there's only power when you have a circuit, turning lights or anything else on when the battery is disconnected can't magically get rid of the remaining power (there isn't any). there's still electrons or what ever sitting in the wire and there's ment to be. |

I think he was meaning to help dissipate any residual power still in the capacitors...but yea, its pretty much negligable....

Break lights done come on unless the key is on anyway.
