Hi everyone
Just wondering what I can do to the head in my EL without having to modify anything else, like pistons. Wouldnt mind porting and polishing it up at least. |

Can put too large a cam in or will upset factory ECU. I don't see any reason for limits to the extent of port and polishing.

Only restriction is the thickness of the walls-in other words the amount of material between chambers and ports, and the water jacket.Take it to a reputable shop.

I've got an RPD RSpec3, does that change anything?

except that porting too much will lower intake velocity, which will lower your torque, especially if your sticking to a cam small enough to work with the factory ecu Cory |

port, polish and shave the head... youve got the RPD cam now... have you changed your valve springs?? get a valve grind.. better cam sprocket

Can I port polish and shave the head without changing anything else.. I mean can I remove the head.. get all that done.. and then bolt it back on no worries?
Yeah I've changed my valve springs. What's the benefit of a better cam sprocket? |

take all the rocker gear and cam out and take your head into a reputable machine shop and get them to port polish and shave it... they'll remove the valves and springs and put them back in when they're done

I think I'm being misunderstood. By doing this headwork.. will I have to change anything else like pistons or rods for example?
I understand what everything in the engine is.... but I'm by no means knowledgable about any of this stuff hehehe Also yes I will be removing the head myself and putting it back in.. I'll be the one asking to borrow someone's torque wrench later |

ha ha i see now.... nah you'll be fine to keep your stock pistons and rods and do heaps of headwork...

Awesome hahaha
I'm not good at getting my point across... here's what my plan is *Remove head (leave valve springs attached to head) *Have head ported, polished and shaved *Refit head *Probably get RPD rocker gear and venier cam and fit those while I'm there Couple more questions from the headwork newb.. what benefits does changing the cam sprocket have? and what's a valve grind? |

valve grinding cleans up the tops of the valves where a lot of black "crap" can build up..
not too sure bout the sprocket... (vernier gear) |
