hey guys,
i think the head gasket is going to go on my EL so i was thinking about getting an AU head from the wreckors, getting it shaved up, put a bit of a stick in it (maybe a 977b) putting in some springs and doing the valve seats. the block has done 260,000 kms, so i was just wondering if its worth putting rings and bearings in the bottom end. it doesnt miss a beat or anything like that, just a thought. cheers.

Why not go the whole hog and put a au motor in

Or an EL engine.
If you want a fix for now then do it, buy up the botto end bits in the meantime so your ready if I dose die. Or rebuild a nice motor in the meantime to drop in. You know what's a freaking spinout!!! Gasdea's signature......

I'm from a time after all that but I've had some fun reads.
I don't think anyone could take your place man, except maybe ilovetrdaurions (EDIT) or Torana04. This forum contains some really entertaining threads.

I've been running wade977b with standard springs etc on a 350,000km motor for 6 months now and it's still going strong heh

haha cheers guys,
yeah pisser isnt it lowlane? funny thing is this was the first thread i read when i joined. haha, first immpressions boys. yeah frd906n i am looking into it, higher compression arnt they? i believe you have to change the sump and timing cover yeah? i'm not looking at forced induction anytime soon, just a warmed up naturaly aspirated 6. maybe in a year or 2 i will look further into boost. but right now p plate laws restrict turbo's and superchargers.

Chop front of sump up, or chop K frame. |

I'm lookin at a strong N/A motor. Prolly an EL cos it's a little easier to convert.
Cam and head. Rebuilt standard bottom end and rods with nice pistons. Exhaust that I have. An a chip to make it work. 4.0s are pretty tough so I prolly won't bother with balancing or blueprinting.

I've also found AU motors cheaper than EL ones! .....I might just do an AU block with a worked EL head....(drifts of into "the perfect world")

I'm sure i've read somewhere that it was the eb tickford head that is the best one at factory spec? And the AU is the best one to do up?

May have been EB.
I know XR6 heads have bigger exhaust valves, I reckon the tickford heads would be same there. Did tickford play with the ports too?
