Looking at getting a thrash car, an old bomb to have fun with in the paddock, just curious how much abuse these cars can take? Lots of revs 4000+ and pedal to the floor stuff? Is anything likely to break or just wear out?

get a 4 cyl so you can actually get the power to the ground and drive the thing, i used my first fairmont as a thrasher after i took the rego off it and the diff had somehow locked itself and even then it would just spin everywhere couldnt really use it, too much fuel and too much weight and too much power, just get a 4cyl manual rear wheel drive, can use the power it has, and its cheaper to run and much lighter than the foulcoon
ive been d**k bashing for 11 odd years ive had a commodore and a falcon and a sigma, a few ford lasers a telstar etc, the commodore and falcon were the only ones i didnt like as they just wanted to spin everywhere and couldnt really get the power down, and they were too heavy

I agree with Bry04l.
However, cheap 4cyl RWD cars are getting hard to find.

if your looking at destroying one every few weeks like i used to lol, then i can suggest not paying more than $150 for one because i only used to get $100 scrap metal for them, in kempsey where i grew up they are quite easy to find but you have to know the right people who know other people to find the cheaper cars, newspapers are rediculous sometimes with their prices for unrego cars, i bought a vp wagon for $60 thrashed it around the bush, polished it up vacuumed it and sold it for 600 and all i did was replace the battery and the panhard bushes and thrash the pants off it lol

Still getting light on the ground.. All I am saying is 100 times better than a big falcoon or commo for bush bashing duties, They aren't exactly common these days and most are considered collectable to a degree.

EA-EL or VN-VS are worth nothing ATM because, as hard as it is to say, no one wants them. You could actually get one for a carton of beer.

One of the best RWD 4 cyl cars for thrashing would have to be the Sigma with the 2 litre Astron motor....You can thrash the hell out of them and they never say die. They'll stand up to an amazing amount of punishment.
