i did it 2 weeks ago when i fitted a new dizzy. earth out the white with red stripe connector near the brake booster. and to do it properly you need a timing light. i've advanced mine a fair bit. need min of 95 octane petrol so it doesn't ping :D and gas loves it

How much is a timing light and where do I get one and does anyone on here live near coffsharbour and has one. Haha

I know I probably shouldn't have done it but I tried it without a light. Just marked. Turned the dist like s**t all and made the mark go 2mm to the left.
Has a heaps better 1st and 2nd but it still pings and feels like its missing up the top of 2nd.
But it sort of did this before. Im putting it down to s**t old leads.

But I advanced it by f all. And it runs better.
The leads arnt that big a problem. They'll be replaced in a week.
And the pinging. I dunno. It started when I ran e10 and hasn't been the same since.

ford have the timing set to what it is for a reason,
It works,

if something is wrong with the car set the timing to factory and fix the problem which would lie somewhere else.

calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'

Yea changed plugs since then. Need new leads.
So I should retard the timing a little?
Think I might.
What's a "cheap" timing light cost?
Ethanol fuel ftl. Neighbor couldn't start his car cos it had e10 in it. Wouldn't idle till he smashed a tank of premium through it

that could happen to any car with older fuel lines at anytime not just fords, e10 is not the cause of a fuel pump dying,

E10 has been known to attack the insulation on the copper windings in the fuel pump on older model EFI cars.
If Henry Ford had his way, back in the 1920's, we'd be using ethanol fuel......and all this crap going on now would never had happened......* goes on searching for Flux Capasitor and a DMC *....... :)
