Hey All,
I saved this picture a while ago of a forum member doing this neat airbox mod and wanted to know what was used around the edging like that??? Anyone know or have a idea of what that is as i want to do the same.

Try some of the weather strips around your door? the ones that connect to the car itself, not the door.

looks like either uni-molding or pinch weld or whatever that dodgey shyte is called. best bet would be to go to clark rubber and see if you can find an extrusion to suit.

Just to make the engine breath a little better

BA Intake > BA Air Box > Remove the snorkel and fit 4" pipe to the front bumper and replace the panel with a pod...
Should be good enough. also check out cold air vs warm air for your engine |

I dont want to go all out for the air induction. I just want something simply and will help it abit more.

I still reckon that a 3" (or bigger) duct from the front bumper would work better because its got a bit of a ram effect, but that actually does look very good
If i had never seen a Falcon airbox before and the lower part of the airbox was cleaned up a bit, i would probably think it was stock looking at it in the engine bay. Well done!! |

i blue slipped my ea with a 4inch elbow from the front brake damn n a crude 4 inch oval hole punched into the guard hidden with insertion rubber, can't find an old pic but apparently looked factory enough hehe
the guy was a real c0ck to, trying to check my ball joints n bearings etc, pitty they were all brand new.

well its not that much more than what your pic shows.
when i did the flexi pipe from the front foglight hole, into the airbox, i only cut two holes, where your planning on cutting one, not that much more work, the hole in the gaurd was about 5 mins, actually it took longer to cut the hole in the airbox. |

i think hes more worried bout the legality of it than the effort concerned. and if your gunna use aggpipe or similar i wouldn't even bother doing it, risk versus reward tells us that cutting a hole in the guard of your bog stock falcoon really isn't worth it.
how many rwkw did you obtain from that mod ? ummm none but drivability is better ? i used to be a big fan of drivability, but just coz your bog stock coon 'feels' better, doesn't mean, by a long stretch, that it goes better, it might (MIGHT) just develop power or torque at different times which may give the illusion of more power, but at the end of the day, your 1/4 isn't gunna drop considerably. neither will your dyno figures. which essentially means, reward is far exceeded by risk of being defected for dodgey holes cut in your guard.

after doing a similar mod to that ( i just cut 2 holes in the airbox behind the light), i noticed a decent improvement once the bbm switches over at 3800rpm. Before it would feel like the engine was struggling for air, now it just revs out alot easier and sounds better under 3800 rpm.
