Ok silly question time... My brother has just bought a '94 (EB?) XR6 for 8k.
It looks to be in good cond, 162.000kms & fitted with tickford wheels. However I have a problem with the engine, whilst it has an air filter cover that says XR6 or tickford or summink the rocker cover is RED!. My problem is that I have a '93 Sportsman and was given to believe that Tickford engines had green rocker covers with the logo, as has mine. What gives here? Is there a way to check a genuine XR6 on the compliance plate. Roger.

considering the fairlanes/fairmont ghia's never got the tickford engine untill the EFII, i'd say someone has put a later model rocker cover on your sportsman

you'll find all XR6 engines have red rocker covers.
look for the tickford wings logo on the front of the head. get ford to check the VIN number if you are really worried. does it have all the XR6 bits like lights wheels seats XR6 badging. if it does it's most likly real or its that good of a mock up it prolly doesn't mater |

Er, are you saying that Ford made an NA Sportsman without a Tickford tweaked engine and suspension.

Sportsman had the normal engine didnt it? As per old fairlanes and NFII.
Au's got the vct engine, so it was an upgrade...

Well after checking the ford site & braving the cold (19c) dark carport I'm getting to the bottom of it.
Ford tells me that I have an NCIII manufactured Sept '93. I have a Green rocker cover with the Tickford 'wings' logo which is sitting on top of a head that has the 'T' logo. So thanks guys, all I started out to do was check out little bruvvers new(?) car and you lot gave me more grey hairs...Bastards
