Well seeing as search is now more useless (ford mods tech removed now too) all I get is for sale threads popping up.
I thought I'd just pop the horn pad off like the ED's but doesn't seem to pop off and I don't want to break anything. Anyone know the procedure in removing the EF/L wheel? |

Air bag:
1) Disconnect battery and wait for at least 5 mins, as power is stored in the airbag and it could go off when removed, which is VERY embarrasing not to say painfull 2) Look to the side of the steering wheel under the "arms" and you will see two "plugs" ease these out with a small screw driver. 3) under these are two 10mm bolts, undo these and remove the airbag. Carry the airbag so it is facing away from you because see 1) above 4) remove connection to clock spring it is obvious 5) undo bolt at center of s/wheel, get a s/wheel puller, attach it and remove s/wheel. 6) install reverse of uninstall |

Air Bag Removal;
1) Set steering wheel in the straight ahead position. 2) Disconnect negative battery terminal and allow at least 1 minute before attempting to remove airbag. 3) Remove cover on each side of the steering wheel, behind the grip of the wheel located at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position. A 10mm socket is nned to undo the bolts, 1 each side. 4) Partially remove the airbag and disconnect the the wiring plug. 5) Remove airbag and store pad facing down. Steering Wheel Removal; 1) Disconnect wiring plug. 2) Using a T50 Torx socket, remove the bolt retainibg the steering wheel. 3) Mark the steering wheel and shaft so that the wheel is fitted back in the correct position. 4) Refit the bolt and screw in a few threads. Hold the top and bottom of the wheel and rock the wheel back and forth until the wheel seperates. 5) Remove the bolt and take off the wheel. The idea of having the bolt fitted is that when the wheel gived you won't knock your teeth out or break your nose. Fitting is the reverse. |
