hey all
as per title - how do i go about it? engine is on a stand, head & sump etc removed, need to take it off but unsure of how to, and don't have my repair manual at my place currently. cheers!

get yourself a 3 bolt puller, take out front bolt, put puller on and tighten up puller main bolt. If engine turns a block of wood between big end and side of block will lock it in place.

yeah, back the bolt of a little, then use a puller to start pulling it back. You need to take the radiator out to get enough room to do it.
Oh, and if you take the bolt out completely and then use the puller there is a good chance you'll screw up the thread on the crank.

Don't fully remove the harmonic balancer bolt. Just take it out a few turns. Screw puller down onto the head of this bolt. That way you wont damage the threads inside the crank.

hows best to remove the balancer bolt? all i'm doing is turning the engine over lol - remember, its stripped all down to just the block!

I used a big f--k off breaker bar resting on the bottom of the engine bay and then turned it over with the key.... obviously you dont have this option... Might have to rig something up to stop the crank from turning.... i.e. nice strong screwdriver through the balancer and resting on the block...

And if you don't have one then hit the head of the crank bolt with a hammer a few times (It helps to free up a tight bolt sometimes) then put a spanner or shifter on the bolt and give it a few short sharp hits with the hammer to break the bolt loose..

A nice strong block of wood between conrod and side of block to lock it from turning while you are undoing it, will still take a fair bit of force to undo, try giving the head of the bolt a nice sharp "crack" with a copper hammer, has worked for me a few times. |

used my new breaker bar, and gave it a good pull - bolt cam off!
next is to get the puller!
