Troy,
With the EL ecu you will get all those codes, also it probably wont let you set the base tining correctly due to the whole heap of stuff thats not connected. If it drives ok, and makes enough power, leave it as is. You can give it as much timing as you like, as long as it doesnt ping over 4000 rpm. I think the pointer should be around 25-30 degrees at idle, not in diagnostic mode. (at least thats where it is on my EA) |

ok the last two codes are easy to get rid of like you said..
BUT im abit concerned about the other 2.. as i only just changed the ect sensor and hego sensor. or am i getting the first two codes because i did the test when engine was cold? and on the k o e o test some of the faults like the fans i understand because the fans arent connected yet, and the performance idicator light fault i assume is for the power econmy switch for autos.?? thnx.. |

the lean hego sensor and the ect sensor will be because it is cold.. your always supposed to do self tests at operating temperature

thats my stupidity.. i didnt think about it not being at operating temp untill i had done the diagnostic... the only ones i dont know about are . code 838 AC Evap sensor circuit fault - shorted positive ????(air con works fine) code 783(i wrote 782 but i think its 783) serial link output check fail???? code 786 Performance indicator light fault .(what does that mean) is it power econ light or switch ??? so all in all i guess its not too bad then.. if someone can help me with the last 3 codes i will leave it at that!! thanks for being patiant and helping me out... |

Performance indicator light is just the bulb on the dash that tells you if you are in economy or not. It will also flash rapidly if the transmission overheats.
Grab your manual and see where the pinout for the PIL is and connect it to a bulb or resistor of the same value. You could also connect it to the power light in the dash, but you'l need to check if the ECU uses positive or negative to trigger it, and connect accordingly.

Don't quote me, but isn't that the link between the cluster and the ecu?
Safe and happy one to you too

hi
now when i do engine running test there are no faults which is good.. but on the koeo test all the problems are sorted out except codes 838.. evaporator sensor short or faulty ... not sure why?? i need to confirm what code 783..serial link output check fail means?? just ironing the last of the bugs out lol otherwise its all good ... |

Well, the evap sensor is the one behind the glovebox lid. It may be wired differently between models.
Is your AC hooked up? I'd be checking the pinouts for the evap thermistor and seeing where they should be connected, and compare that to where they are connected.

troy,
dont worry about those 2 codes, EL ecu had control of the aircon system, therefore EB doesnt have the evap sensor wired up to the ecu. The serial link is the trip comp and dash serial interface, which again is not there on the eb's dont worry about those codes |
