First, buy a can of threebond "super engine conditioner".
Second, follow instructions. I have had a couple troubles with dirty throttlebodys causing bad idle, I have tried tomcat throttlebody/carby cleaner, direct injection 3 intake cleaner, a sonax intake cleaner, ect. This s**t takes the cake by far. You could hear the change in the engine whilst doing the first rev and I and you could really hear the differance whilst the plumes of white smoke fill the street, Buy some! |

ive used subaru upper engine cleaner on my AU, and it did sweet f**k-all........ no white smoke, no change in rpm's...... nothing
falcons obviously have alot less carbon build up than subbies |

Hi 87SIlude, it may seem a stupid question but what was the reason for using this Threebond? I have been trying a few different things to try and get my XH ute to idle a bit smoother but nothing seems to work. Secondly, where is it available? Cheers.

I have used the motortech carby & throttle body cleaner and find it does a great job. Cheap too.
Cheers ToranaGuy

Hey mate. Well decided to use it because my supervisor reccomended it to me.
At work We have several types. Seafoam, whynns diriect injection, a wurth one and tomcat carby cleaners. Id tried them all before and he told me that the threebond one wich we have been reccomended to use for subaru's as the seafoam dosnt cut it on filthy unservised subies) would sort it out easy, and it did. As for where you buy it, I havnt seen it forsale anywhere but couldn't hurt to ask at a auto store that sells threebond products. seafoam did a decent job on it but my throtle body was filth. also as for the white smoke, there was both from the exhaust and then from the tyres haha. More from the exhaust tho. 18s are exy. Take it easy all! |

maybe the subies carbon up because of the way the motor is laid out

Yep, the subs are prone to intakes gooping up because of the design. That's why they sell a Sub branded upper engine cleaner. The local Ford dealership buys it by the case to use on Falcons, so some of them must need it. I have used it on the EF, but didn't notice any difference in the way it runs. Will give the Threebond a try though.

What is the best procedure for using this stuff?

Tried the Threebond on the AU, following the directions on the can, and gave it a good thrash immediately afterward, but didn't notice any difference in operation. The throttle body is visibly cleaner though. Bought the AU in September and don't know how the previous owner treated it. Have run STP Injector Cleaner through it a couple times since, and always use 98 octane (with more detergents). So maybe there wasn't much to clean.

Yea don't usually see many aus with intake problems *(becides the gasket)
My TB was filthy so had to clean something. Did you get any white smoke? |

No white smoke that I could see, which surprised me. Maybe that's a good sign.
