As title says, how would i take a de-threaded head bolt off? The socket has some grip but is almost gone.

Try vice grips or bash a slightly smaller impact socket over the top so its tight.
If that doesnt work- Cut the top of it off the bolt. Remove the head then use vice grips or 2 bolts working against each other to undo it. |

I tried bashing a size 13mm socket but the bolt is to big.
The bolt is still has that "seal" on it. So i dont think i wil be able to use vice grips.Might go tackle it again with the WD 40.

Try some penatrine down the side of the bolt, give the bolt a couple of sharp whacks on the top and only use hexagon shaped sockets and spanners on it.

I had this problem when removing my fuel filter recently. The 14mm outlet nut threaded so I soaked it repeatedly with WD40 then the next day i filed down 2 parralell sides to 12mm and it came off easily.

Buy a good Single hex socket. Heat it up and or hit it. Resize it for another socket. Weld a Socket to it. Drill it out or cut the f**k off!

Ive filed it down to a size 13mm.
I used a milti hex socket at the beginning. Thats how it got de - threaded/round. From now on, ill be buying the single hex sockets. Stupid me! But i learnt my lession. Tomorrow im going to buy a size 13mm socket for the impact driver. Hopefully it wont break. Ive also learnt something.... Ford build tough, But not from a file and elbow grease. Worse case is that ill try to cut the bolt off.

Get a quality high speed drill bit and some drill cutting compound. Makes a huge difference
