What exactly is the problem (why wont they come out)?
you do have a valve spring compressor?

You need a valve spring compressor. I made mine, and sevaral others for other makes. Try a tool joint or Repco.

Squash the springs, remove the collet (two piece retainer). Remove springs, remove valve stem seal, valve will now fall out.

Overhead cam valve spring compressors are over $100 at my local repco. Exactly the same ones on ebay for $26 and I picked up exactly the same one from my local auto store for $24.95. I was going to make one as well but at that price I cbf.

I have made them for years. They also work on the car too (without pulling the head off).
I've made them for Mazda, Suzuki, Holden, Ford, Honda(m/cycle), Toyota, Valiant...etc. It isn't hard, just need the materials & tools to do it.

what tools and materials do you need i am v.interested! i have the head off the car it is a spare and i am going to practise porting on my 2 spare heads before the real deal!

Piece of steel about 3 cm wide. Drill a hole in one end to fit rocker bolt (or any other bolt that is handy). Cut other end so that it pushes on the spring washer and not the collet or valve tip. Length you will have to measure to make sure it all fits nice.
Just place over valve spring. Start tightening the bolt to compress the spring. Remove collet and slowly release bolt. Easy. That is the principle. You just need to work out the measurements. cheers Scott

Firstly, a welder ( a MIG preferably), 5mm x 50mm flat bar, 30 or 40mm angle, pipe (3mm wall) 5/8" inside dia, 2 of 5/8" bolts about 2" long, old shockies to cut up for the tubing inside, to make a tool to fit on the the valve spring retainers, a diegrinder with various tips/bits, a small magnet to pick up the collets, 25x25x2mm RHS, pipe that will fit on the outside of the other pipe, 1/2" RHS, and bolts, M8x1.25x 25mm(4 of).
I don't know how to draw pictures on here, and don't have a digital camera yet, to show photos, but if you have enough imagination, you could do it. Yes, my shed is full of various bits of steel & s/steel, I can't put my car in there to work on it, its 6m x 6m x 3m high. It was the biggest shed i could put there.
