Fg xt series 1 had 4spd auto.
I think also the series 1 g6 had 4spd auto with ZF option.
Xr6 n/a was standard 5spd auto with ZF option.

wrong

as i said, the dedicated gas models came with 4 spd. Maybe thats all changed with current models, but you wont see any 4spds in a FG thats not dedicated gas

Alrighty. This one has me stumped, says it's a 6sp... but no VIN for me to confirm on ETIS (thanks FordFairmont for that link!!).

Shifter doesn't have the black strip either. It's just around the corner from my place, so I've asked to inspect vehicle.

So if it doesn't have that leather strip it's the 5sp? If so, that sucks cause none of the QLD ones that I've seen have the strip... I could settle for a 5sp, but I won't be paying extra if the person is saying it's the ZF.

Warwick is 150km away haha I'd only go for it if I can get it for less than 15, and even then it's a 2hr drive to get there, so inspecting it would be a 5 hour round trip lol I'd only go if I have the funds ready to go for inspection, so I can just sign paperwork and go.

Nothing wrong with a 2 hour trip to buy a car dude. I'd rather travel 10 hours for a car that i'll be happy with for years to come, than settle for 2nd best because its local and regret it later on.

But yeah, the best way to tackle a car like that is to rock up with 13-14k in your pocket and wave that around when inspecting it.

Even better. I think I had local postcode turned on when I did my search last night lol so It was only showing cars that were only 50km or less...

What are planning to do with it? Similar sorta setup to what you had on the BA?

Thank you so much for that info!

Ticky, if only I could test drive them all lol

And I'm pretty certain the only fg that had 4sp now that I remember were the lpg 3 seater utes with column shift?

And other early LPG models as well i beleive had the 4spd auto.

My 6spd has no markings on the shifter covers etc.
