ok, just finished.

teh initial voltage was 0.24, then held for maybe 10 seconds, hen fluctuates from 0.3-1.0V

it fluctuates constantly, doesnt average out or sit close to anything...
:(

still have to test the map sensor

Sorry I should have mentioned that it would fluctuate. But 0.45v should be about the 'average' reading if the car is runnign properly.

You can test it out of car to elimate the issues Greenmachine is talking about, but who could be f**k lol... 8-)

i guess the average may be about that, however, it flctuates 0.7v and does it a lot. and often. there is no stable "average" (ie say, .4-.6, its a much bigger range)

It's all in the gregories, and it's still with a multimeter.

I've got crappy fuel economy at the moment too - lucky to get 320k out of a tank. My power "seems" ok but she is feeling sluggish off the line. The car feels best when it's absolutely stinking hot (like 40 degrees!) but the humidity isn't up - it rarely is very humid at 40+ temps - ie. at 38 degrees and massive heavy humidity there's some noticeable loss of performance (tho not much - gotta love the JMM cam). The next best performance is on a coolish - not cold, just cool - dry morning. Idle is generally fine except when starting up when humidity is high - idling for a little while and some "blipping" is required then to stabilise it.

I also have a wolf AF1 mixture meter spliced into the HEGO and it shows uniformly "ideal" mixture reading (which surely can't be right if I'm chewing this much fuel??). All this makes me think my problem is the HEGO sensor - I'm hoping to have it replaced within the week so will post how it goes.

OK - fitted new Oxy Sensor the other day - instantly MUCH improved idle - not that I considered it particularly bad, but it was a bit "chunky" and could be downright cranky when starting up after being run then sitting for a few hours. Also my Wolf AF1 mixture meter (which had been showing spot on mixture reading from the old Oxy Sensor) showed rich mixture on the display. I haven't reset the ECU as I want to see if it will sort itself out without that - it's slowly settled in two days to showing orange optimum mixture bars with one green (rich) bar - which is how it used to read years ago. Early days for fuel economy check - I'll post with how the current full tank goes.

This one was $120 from Auto1 - it's NGK/NTK Part No. 0ZA23-D2

Sorry, I'm not sure if that first digit is zero or letter "O"

it doesnt really matter... more of interest is your economy/power/accel as compared to before

So far it's too early to tell how the economy is.

Seat of the pants / performance wise, the idle is more stable than it was for sure - it just gets a tiny bit grumbly on startup after heatsoaking now whereas it used to be real ragged. On the go it's all good as far as I'm concerned - it used to behave all backward - ie. best performance was on real hot days and it felt a little down on cool mornings - but now it's the same on hot days but even BETTER in cooler conditions. Mind you, the coolest we're seeing here at the moment tho is 27 degree mornings occasionally - so there's even more grunt to come as the temps drop further.

In short - it's no worse on hot days (which was/is always pretty damned good actually - love the JMM cam!) and now feels even better when conditions are cooler. It's back to how it was a year or so ago - I hadn't really realised how much cool condition performance I'd lost - it's hard to explain, but this cam makes it a bit like that - it's so tractable and strong across the board that you're never left thinking "Hmmmm." unless a specific effort is made to think in comparative terms or as in this case if an improvement is definitely felt.

hey i got a set of JMM extractors and the O2 sensor is on 1 length of the twin tube part.... now for reading wise this would only be measuring mixture readings from 3 cylinders yes? this would make a differance to idle and performance? GOOD OR BAD? i am thinking of 2 reasons why it is there.. 1: dont have to extend o2 sensor leads.. or 2: JMM with all the testing they do... made the car run better...
does anyone know anything about this? coz to me i would honestly of thought jmm would of put it in a place that make the car run better, but also saves running wire extensions?
i got rough idle and fuel compsumtion at avg of 16l/100km

The sensor there should be ok - any of the individual cylinders exhaust should be a reasonable sample for the overall state of the engine - 3 of them improves the odds of it being a reasonable sampling.

Your consumption comes out at something like a bit over 400km to a tank? - that's probably not as good as it should be. Unfortunately I can't guarantee a new sensor will fix you up - all you can do is try it - but I'm virtually certain the position of the sensor won't be a factor.

I was priced for NGK Oxy sensor at Autobarn for $72, Repco $100 and Ford $170. I also wanted a new MAP sensor and Ford quoted me $270... I almost choked at that. All this just to fix my lack of power from 500-2400RPM.
