So i was changing the oil today in my rundown ford EF with an AU motor. I placed the jack under the car and started to lift not thinking where id placed the jack respective of the car. Anyway turns out the jack was under the sump and its pushed the engine up an inch or so and the rest of the car dropped down. Just wondering what this could have done to the car.. didnt hear any snapping just the rubber air pipes come from there places. But just wondering possible damage this could have done

an inch is a fair push... id guess possible damage to the sump best to get a mobile mechanic out to give it a once over

Here is what i would do, try an get get your car up in the air viia axle stands to see if any damage has been done to the sump and if no visible damage to the stump start the car and listen for any vacum leaks.....hope this helps

check the sump for any leaks, if it has oil in the motor and the sump isnt leaking it should be fine, many people have lifted their falcons by the sump and the cars are still going strong

Might be the angle but it should be cylindrical. So it lifted the engine then dropped back down?

lifted it up the mount on the exhaust side doesnt sit flat but i think it was always like this due to the AU motor.. once i get this dam oil filter off ill fill it up and check for leaks..

yeah to replace you just jack up the engine undo the mount slide it out and put a new one in yeah? its an old car and only has to get me to april of next year. rang up my uncle who helped put the engine in turns out he had to mod it a bit to make it fit.. that would explain the slight wobble at 100km +
