ok so i was stationary, my car randomly started splutering and coughing heavily, the revs would drop down to about 400-500 rpm then go up to about 2000rpm then drops down and sits at 1100rpm still when stationary with no throttle applied, i try and take off and the car just coughs, loss of power nearly completely, if u get it up to 1500 rpm in first gear and then put ur foot down the car stalls then when u back off the throttle it roll starts back up again, if u get it up too 2000rpm and over in first gear and put ur foot down the car doesnt miss a beat... when u switch the car off the whole car shutters and shakes, when u start it up it sits at about 2000rpm then drops to 400-500rpm then continues to idle at 1100rpm still coughing. last week i put in brand new ignition coils, this week i had hurricane headers and 100cpi high flow cat fitted, it has been running beautifully up until today i was not strapping around or anything just cruising around and when i came to a stop this happened. can someone please help me!!!!

I would get along to a Dealer or an Auto Electrician and get them to run a diagnostic on the system rather than spend lots of dollars on changing things that it MAY be. It COULD be, HEGO sensor, Throttle body potentiometer, Accelerator Pedal or?
As you can see, there is a myriad of choices. |

If it was an EF it would be the vac pressure line from inlet manifold to the MAP sensor. How does the BA deal with this side of things? An airflow sensor rather than pressure sensor maybe? Ah well, have a look around under the bonnet and make sure all the wires and little air tubes are connected and don't have splits in them etc.
But, you woulda done that already...... |
