:twisted: hi guys, i recently got a 2 1/5 redback exhaust for my 98 el falcon (which i love), before i got my exhaust done i asked for a very loud sports like sounding exhaust note. after completion of my exhaust i was really surprised to as how quiet it sounded! (the guy said thats the loudest he can make it) i was expecting a earth shattering loud beast but what i got was just a small simple vibrating note (i have high expectations) he told me that my exhaust willl get louder over time from carbon build up, and that i shouldent worry...my question to u is how can i get a loder exhaust note in less time?....what could i do to make my car louder?...no im not putting a hole in my exhaust :wink:

Drive it round alot.
Mine actually got semi louder, but its still not loud enough for my liking. So i am going to the local exhaust place to get a muffler removed.

i would say you have got a rear resinator on that sports exhaust. I made the same mistake.

Remove that and just have the one straight through muffler, it will be loud then...................

I have a 2 1/2 with single lukey muffler, with mandrel bent pipe on the rear. Only just got the car and a few guys at work asked if it was a v8. It sounds pretty good. note tends to peak around 2250 rpm (bit boomey there) but most of the time sounds pretty much like a V8...... does turn heads

its only illegal if you remove all of them i think. removing all but 1 is ok.

get some headers(extractors) to accompany that lonely exhaust, you'll probably get a better engine noise coming from them too. Not to mention more power.

Go back to the exhaust shop, and tell them you want a straight through tail pipe, cause you're not happy with the sound.
A good shop will swap it over for free.
Don't punch a hole in the muffler, it sounds s**t...

i agree. dont punch a hole it will sound horrible. it sounds loud, not in tune even at low revs. if u go over to the shop they might do it for u for free as Steady ED said but if ur unlucky they might charge u a small fee which i doubt. or just call them up and ask them before u drive all the way there.
phong =P~
