Best stock head is the EF/EL XR6 head & Cam. If you want to get one ported, valves etc, use an AB94, EF stock head.

the best thing to overcome regular head gasket failure is to use the au steel head gasket..

SWC,
The 94AB is the casting mark, am I correct.
While I am at it which is the better inlet manifold, The one with the throttlebody up top and pointing accross the engine or the one with the throttle body down low pointing at the radiator?
Is the AU1 good for anything?

Troyman,
I didn't have much success with the AU gasket, is that what you use in your blown motor.
Thanks,

Yuri

Then you have other problems causing the failure.

I agree, if a factory au engine can generally go over 300'000+km without head gasket failure and you are not having good run with the au gasket, there might be a surface or surface prep issue??

my engine is still on the factory au head gasket..

did u toque the au gasket up to au specs? also an au gasket needs a better surface to work.

94AB is the casting number.

In my opinion the BBM is the better intake, (Throttle Body at the top) but you will need to fit an EL ECU as well as the actuator solenoid for the BBM butterflies as well as change your throttle cable. If you want to go turbo use the Log Manifold, (Throttle body at the bottom).

AU Intake is not suitable for the E series as the air temp sensor in the upper manifold is different as well as the throttle body.

Are you getting your head skimmed when you change the head gasket?

Then you have other problems causing the failure.

the block may have warped and needs to be skimmed flat, with a few gasket clean ups it may not be flat, the heads are nearly always skimmed flat when removed.my v8 over heated and had to skim the block as well as hone the bores.

The engine in question with the head gasket problems was professionally built to be turboed. I put a turbo kit on it and had it tuned by professionals who specialise in Fords.
It went well but after 3 head gaskets I put it in the shed. Experts made many suggestions at the time but it would't live.

It it was professionaly built and it has stuffed 3 headgaskets, I would be going back to the builder and asking him waht the f..k is going on.
