im starting to look for what cams are avalible.
im looking for something with pleanty of low down improvement, as big as the stock ecu will handle, preferably a straight swap, over a regrind. i havent heard much of anyone making a cam or cam package for the hybrid or au motor. Has anyone got one? or know of anyone making them? what experiences have people have with them? Cheers

I had one for my EL, RPD did it (I don't beleive they're around anymore however).
No low down improvement, in fact a loss of low torque. However when the cam 'came on' woah what a ride.

nice... I want to get something with a big boost in the 2800 to 4000 rpm range and then try and get 4.11's between the back wheels... With the manual I'm putting in, that should get me some pretty decent 1/4 mile times.

wouldnt wanna drive it on the highway, the nvh from the revs you will be doing would be insane. you will turn it into a 4 speed manual with 4.11s behind it, first gear will be completley useless. like an econovan or something. Id recon it will make your 1/4 times slower, more shifting. 4.11s are for autos. not T5s. at least not if you intend to drive it even semi daily.

Quote you want as big as the ecu will handle.. and you want low down torque.. very hard getting that combination.. With huge cams you usualy lose low down torque or atleast dont gain any.. but once the engine comes into the cams power range.. she take's off like a scolded cat... |

yeah... must admit I had already re-thought that one..
I've already sourced an LSD Xr6 3.45:1 diff... that would be better for daily driving I guess.. can always look for 3.7ish later if I need it. |
