Thanks all for the comments guys, working to spare time and money restraints can get frustrating eg: i want it finished NOW. Hopefully I can sell my not used Fiat van in the next couple of weeks to free up some funds, that will allow me to buy the rest of the needed parts, ECU, injectors etc.
s**t mate! Just had a skim over the thread and all I can say is great work and good luck! I'm a third year engineer at Adelaide Uni so this is right up my alley! Where do you work? (sorry if you've already mentioned that...)
Hey MoNGooSE, I work in the Art department for UniSA teaching photography, but i have a background in Jewellery & Metal design and fabrication, which helps. I would like to make more of these, however I want to find a sympathetic dyno that will give me some cheap roller time to do some before and after comparrisons first. |

I could tell you had photography experience. Don't usually see pics in a build thread with nice DOF . What gear do you use?
If you work in arts where you doing all the fab work for the manifold?

Being part of the school of Art, Architecture and Design means i have access to the Industrial Design workshop , lathes, mills, TIG, laser, CNC, folders etc, and the Jewellery and metal workshop. but honestly a lot of the stuff is done at home, the door spears i made with only an angle grinder and bench grinder buff. So it can also be done on the cheap. |

Dropped off the 6060 alloy plates to the 'water jet' cutter today to cut out the manifold flanges, can pick them up on Friday.
Final design for the two flanges: Then once it is all welded up, I can drill the holes for the injector bosses, and tap some vacuum holes in the bottom of the runners. |

For those that don't know, water jet cutting is sort of like sandblasting, but using water instead of air, a cutting grit is carried through a very small venturi opening by water running at up to 90,000psi. The tolerance in cutting accuracy is +/- 0.25mm with a smooth finish, so it is a pretty precise method.

May be able to tell I've got water jet experience.... Coming along nicely!

Got the flanges back from the water jet cutter today, they came out very good.
There is a guy in the city that I will get to TIG it up next week, I want it to look horn so I will leave it to the pro. Fingers crossed I may have sold my van, find out tomorrow, but if I have = can order throttle bodies, ram tubes, and ECU next week |

Dsyfer,
FWW I have been building a set of roller throttle bodies for a Subaru SVX and what I found out is that you need to put a fair bit of effort into the linkage. If you look at a lot of current throttle bodies they have two linkages arms so they can smooth the power band as you open the throttles. In other words the movement of the cable causes a different amount of movement of the throttles plates. What I am doing to get around the issue is cutting the linkage from a SVX throttle bodie. Have it draw in a 3d pdf but the file is to large to post worst luck. Tony |

Tony Cheers, the throttle bodies for this are a single butterfly mounted on 8mm roller bearing shaft, and the manifold was computer cut, so I am hoping that it should be pretty free, fingers crossed anyway. |
