But was planning on 48mm and 40mm if i can get the seat throats opened up enough, otherwise I will stay with 47mm, the shape of the Pro flow should be equivalent to a larger valve, but I was also thinking that the 47mm valve can be unshrouded better in the chamber than a larger one? would the larger valve flow less around the side than a smaller valve which has been unshrouded more? The price for the valves from manley are the same for any size as long as they can be cut from one of the blanks, the price difference is in the type of material choosen for the valves. They have 3 different series in the custom valves, Race duty, Extreme duty, Servere duty. Race is for street/weekend racer applications Extreme is for Pro Stock/Pro Comp type applications Severe is for Alcohol/ Top Doorslammer type applications Go with 48mm 41mm The exhaust seats will easily take a 41mm valve. (as i found when i measured the seats on tickford and non tickford heads as having the same OD) I've also done a few heads the and gone to 41mm. there is minimal shrouding around the intake valve, It's only on the short turn side and the cylinder wall is there anyway. The increase in throat size would far out weigh any shrouding issue. |

Tony Hey Desertrunner, this is the one I used: http://www.amcsupplies.com.au/catalogue/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23_329&products_id=1382 There is a few different types, but this one is solid enough to hold it's shape and still be able to get it out of the port. Make sure you use a mould release spray do it doesn't stick, they sell that as well. |

(428cu SBF 1002HP with a 280hp shot of nitrous) we went over bored one weekend and used 480hp of nitrous. that much power and 8000rpm was the limit of the extreme valves. The valves concaved and closed up the valve clearance this in turn burnt some valve seats. |

Stuff still to do: Am hoping to have everything ordered this week, throttle bodies and ram tubes will take 8 days to arrive. Spoke with Bruce Heinrich about the EMS6860, he can get me one in pretty quick. Haven't decided on valve springs yet, Crow only seem to list XR6 springs? Maybe Atomic. Vernier cam gear, either Crow or Atomic. Haven't thought about injector size or regulator yet? any suggestions? |

That's what I was thinking, the street series are priced well enough to make it not too over the top to put them in. Damn gotta limit the pro fogger to under 450hp then lol I'd love to know the pressures required to concave an extreme stainless valve.. talk about the big bang theory. |

Alas, I live 15 kms outside of Air Express delivery range, so they have given my throttle bodies to Australia Post to get to me. So I have to wait until tomorrow now, was all excited to get home tonight
Been thinking about air filters today, I could just go 6 foam sock type filters, But what about something like this setup on the Harrop ITB setup Would be easy enough to fiberglass it up, the way I see it the socks would interrupt the airflow into the ram tubes, however the airbox would allow the ram tubes to draw as they are designed from around the bell. Article on basic airbox making using fiberglass, could be improved a bit, but is a good explanation of the process. http://extrudabody.com/TechInfo/Plenum_Building.html |
