take note mr ford this is what we want on all new xr6's, i havent read all the pages of this build up but ive gotta ask, was there a budget for this set-up? did it blow out? no need for exact $$ but will this set up get change out of say 5g's.
i liked your reasoning for doing it too- "because i can"
noice

I do actually have a good (possibly lol) question - I don't remember reading about how the idle will be controlled in this setup. Is there a provision for a idle bypass in the individual throttle bodies, that you hook up to an ISC solenoid so the ECU controls idle or is it mechanically set on each throttle body?

Cheers

those t/b's have an idle air bypass screw, visible on that last photo at the bottom,
there is [currently] no ecu idle control on that setup, although it can be done with a common vacuum plenum etc if the tune is good, you dont really need the ecu to control the idle under most conditions

I thought that might have been an idle air bypass screw i could see, but thought i would ask anyway. Cheers for that info.

Cheers

They look bloody awesome. Such a shame you're in SA so I will likely never hear them.

Personally I wouldnt waste the money on a plenum. The only time you will want to see them is at a show, and if you get sock type filters you can just pop them off to show the tubes off in their full glory... too easy.

haha nalane used to own a VH Charger with 265 and triples, got EPA'd one day for noise pollution,

exhaust was fine but the triple webers completely obliterated the 90dB limit,
but alas there was no penalty against induction volume ;)

P.S dsyfer, they look amazing mate, would die to hear those bad boys at WOT :P

I just read this thread end to end. All I can say is WOW!
Now I can see what your plans are with that motor I sold you...
Btw can you sell me the oil pressure sender that I left on the motor?

I'll pull it out for ya, you can have it, I could drop it by on the way home from work one day next week?

Budget for the induction setup I set at $5k based on estimates, so far with:

Throttle bodies, ram tubes, linkages, manifold materials, bit of welding, EMS6860 ecu.

I'm pretty spot on the $4000 mark, with ignition stuff still to buy, which will be around the $500 mark.

But if you didn't want to play around with sequential injection and spark you could use a cheaper ecu like say a Stinger, and if you are handy with a spanner and laptop you could do it for around $3,700 mark.

Manifold is the tricky part, you have to be spot on, or it will cause problems. After seeing the throttle bodies in the flesh I have had a few ideas about future manifolds using these throttle bodies.

It might sound like a lot, but just about everything I'm putting in this car can be transferred, ECU can be used on any 4, 6 or rotary, and with a small fee factory upgraded to 8 cyl, the throttle bodies being singles I can put them on anything, or buy two more if an 8 tickles my fancy one day, Coil on plug ignition and igniters same again.

It will more than likely work out in the end to be about the same as a bolt on low end turbo kit, which was my original plan for the car, or a Raptor, but even though this won't put out the same maximum power, I'm pretty sure it will be just as much fun, besides the BBM manifold looks like it belongs on a Star Wars set, as a power generator on the planet Hoth.

I love Australia Post at the moment, they keep bringing me presents, vernier and valve spring tomorrow hopefully.

It almost matches the ram tubes :D

I'd prefer individual throttle bodies...especially ones that look as good as yours. You won't get the same power as forced induction, but you won't have many hassles in regards to engineering (I think), good induction sound, more grunt and looks the goods.
