What you can do is power the coils through a relay, triggered off the fuel pump relay signal, so the coils will only be powered when the fuel pump is, ie when its running.
If you still have a good 3 ch ignitor then you can use the std coil pack, might be worth getting it running with the std coil pack initially, saves burning up a handful of ba coils if it goes bad.

with the std coil packs, get it running with no sync sensor first, then setup the sync sensor and sequential coils from there, will make it easier to get it running initially. set the timing to fixed 10deg initially until you confirm it with a timing light then start setting your fuel and timing tables. they like to idle with around 18+deg advance.

Cool, thanks. So the setup in the EMS would I say 3 igniters or 1 igniter with the standard coilpack?. And wire the igniter, 1 to 1&6, 2 to 2&5 etc on the coilpack? If I use the original loom this will also have the fuel pump relay power, looking at the wiring diagram.

The fun of it all :D

I'm off to buy some HT leads, as the inner clip came off one of my old ones taking them off the other day.

This is driving me nuts, I can't seem to get a spark.

The crank sensor is magnetic as it is only a two wire sensor, there are two wires; Brown & Grey.
The input to the EMS for magnetic trigger is Green for + and Black -, I have checked the continuity between the wires from the sensor and the EMS, all good. However when cranking, the tacho on the EMS doesn't show anything, I would have thought it would show some RPM even at cranking speed?????

The EMS is set for missing tooth, 72 teeth per cam cycle, 6th tooth after missing.

Anyone with an EMS tell me whether the tacho gauge on the EMS will show movement when cranking????

brown is +, grey is -, so brown to green, grey to black.

do you have the std ecu still connected, ie have you piggybacked the C.A.S?

What settings do you have for the dwell and Ign Fire Edge?

Do you have an LED test light you can test the EMS to Ignitor outputs, and the coils do have 12v to them when cranking?

I now have spark, rechecked all wiring and connections, (the EMS setup sheet says if piggybacking the crank sensor you only need to connect the green, however deep in the manual it says if a magnetic sensor is used, you must also earth the negative output of the sensor via the shielded loom ground) fixed that and plugged in a couple of old sparkplugs and they sparked just not at the right time..

Standard ECU is still connected, fire is on rising+ dwell is 4ms.

Just put a timing light on it whilst cranking, no1 is firing at 90degrees  Cam angle sensor was not removed, so it shouldn't be that? Base timing set in EMS as 10degrees.

Any ideas what can be causing the timing being 90degrees????

66_Coupe could you send me your email please, I can't attach things via your website mail form.

Congratulations dude, you've done a great job

Thanks guys, a lot of people on here helped along the way.

Got the idle setup better, it's around the 13 AFR, good brake vacuum, now up at around -50kpa.

The EMS is not reading the wideband for some reason (will recheck everything) so as I don't have a gauge for the AFR's I am having to unplug the EMS from the laptop and plug in the LC1 Logworks to read the AFR, this doesn't help in tuning anything but idle as I can't log RPM to it.

So for now I will have to get it working with the EMS, and try and get a gauge tomorrow from somewhere.

Now back to the wire checking and tuning......
