whats n/a mean?

naturally aspirated, as compared to having a turbo/supercharger or nos which is forced induction

Hey all, long time no post.

Got myself a nice BA Futura to run around in, so the XK wagon has gone into the shed for play time.

Seriously thinking about building a ITB setup for it, just not sure what motor to put behind it (I know a bit cart before the horse) but ITB's would look pretty sick in the old girl.

Was originally just going to drop in a 302, but am now swayed into leaving the 6, just gotta decide between a 250 or a Barra.

leave the original engine in the xk if it works fine u will get more for it wen selling time comes also i would assume you would have all kinds of trouble getting a barra to work in a xk

It's still running the original 144 and two speed fordmatic, I've been using it as a semi-daily, she's pretty good for what she is. Not looking for resale value, I don't think I will ever part with it. Barra wouldn't be too hard with after market ECU and C4, it's just another internal combustion engine. Still looking at putting shockwave airbags all round, so originality isn't a priority (except for interior) old body new running gear.

Ah sorry, not that familiar with the ins and outs of the early Falcons. In that case I think a 200 would be a giant leap from the 144 and two speed. A Barra would be an insane jump up, but what a whole lot of fun

from my unserstanding the barra requires a lot of work to get working get in contact with benj

Yeah but no but yeah no. It'd pretty straight forward if you had all the bits and knew what you are doing.

Remember, these old cars have next to no electrics in them, they are very very simple. So pretty much a clean slate to do what ever you want with.

ahh kk

Maybe to run the OEM electrics for the BA. But if you are making your own electrics, all you really are using is the Barra long motor. No more need for any of those things.

ahh kk i didnt think the xk cluster would work with a barra?

XK cluster would have nothing to do with the Barra, it would have more to do with the C4 as that's where the speedo drive is.

I think you're thinking about this a little too hard. Simplify it, take a BA long motor (block, head and internals) and that's it. Bolt an old school auto to it, make your own injection and management system and off you go. Nothing but the BA long motor is used.

i always over think things lol but imho id still keep it original as the xk wagon is rare but each to there own

Yeah it would just be a long motor run off an aftermarket ECU, original speedo could be run off the C4. Fixed cam timing, unless any ECU's can now handle the VCT (haven't looked at the latest ECU's yet). 302 would be easier, but I'm a six man, always have been :D
