try your local wreckers for a manual ECU. Should take ya all of 10 mins to change it yourself

Jaysen wrote: I hate to burst your bubble dude but have you seen the fin in the combustion chamber that shrouds the intake valves in the ED head? This was deleted from the later model heads as it proved to be more of a hinderence than a help to flow rates and fuel atomisation. You might want to look into this before you stick it on your EF as you will probably get a lot more out of modding the EF head in comparison.
You're thinking of the EA head. The EB2 onwards didn't have the little fin (i.e. no 4.0L did!). Having said that, the EA fin in the EA head can be taken out by any half decent head work place. I'm still running the EA head on my car and it's making 165rwkw... Cheers, Dave |

Oh, I should add that the removal of that little fin for the EB2 was what actually bumped the capacity up from 3.9 to 4.0 litres. It added something pathetic like 36cc to the capacity, but it was enough for them to round the number up instead of down. lol

How can a change to the head affect engine capacity? The difference between the 3.9L and the 4.0L was the bore size.

The 5sp conversion was done at narrelan "macquather parts" ford wreckers.. nsw.. they did a great job.. They used a second hand manual computer 4 the conversion... its ran perfect since instalation... The xr6 head i got was stock but in brand new condition.. it had no fins in the combustion chamber... its a genuine tickford head as it has the "T" emblem on the front face of the head.. BTW.. the venom wing is gd for standing out in the croud without lookn "ricey"...
