Ok guys. Im currently doing lessons so i can get my Ps in 2 and a half weeks.
After that i am going to need a new exhaust for my EF. The one i have is full of holes and is probably causing me to loose back pressure. So i wa thinkng of a 2 1/2 inch exhaust with lukey muffler no resonator. Also i want a new cam just for a little more kick out the the old girl so i was thinking of a wade cam but i dont know which one to get. I was thinking of single stage shift kit as well. Anyone got any idea's and comments for me as im stuck in what i should do.

i agree, and save urself some cash and fit urself, except maybe the cam if ur not confident.
p.s. theres a sticky at the top that can hold some usefull info, and idd suggest reading the tech docos as alot can be learned from there. good luck Rushed |

If your getting a cam then definantly get some extractors to when you bolt on the new exhaust.

ok.
How do i make the shift kit? What is a Wade 1604 gonna cost? How much will the 2 1/2 inch exhaust with lukey muffler no resonator cost? How much for extractors? I can install everything my self. i rebuilt a crappy holden 202 with a crow cam and mild head work. LOL. funny story that

1.go to the shift kit thread, do a search, heaps of info or go straight to mechanicsforum.com.
2.$122 exchange+shims 3.~$250, maybe less, lots of people have been ripped off and charged $350 so be careful 4. $200-$500 depends on what you go for |

What does the resonator do anyway? lol.
p.s. i'm serious And are aftermarket extrators important to have if you put a 2.5 inch system on?

extractors will help the cam behave.
resonators make the exhaust quieter, like a rear muffler shiftkit thread http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... =shift+kit |

So getting a 2.5 with resonator, and extrators later on down the track is fine?

yes, it will just give you a different note, and be more quiet

But putting extrators in, later on, is cool? Not vital that it is done with new exhaust?

it depends on the brand of exhaust and extractors. as you know, the stock Exhaust outlet manifold doesnt reach back very far, compare it to a set of extractors, extractors however reach down underneath the car Then flange onto the Cat. You might find that if you go too hook up extractors later, you might have to cut off some of the exsisting pipe to be able to flange it onto the extractors. Personally, if you know your going to buy Extracots at a later date, just wait untill you have enoughf money to do it all in one hit extractors/cat/exhaust. that way they will all deteriorate roughfly at the same time as well. cheers |

And out of curiousity, whats the cheapest I could find a stainless steel exhaust for?

personally i wouldnt bother with the stainless unless you want to be keeping the car for another 5-6 years. Mild steel will easily last that long. (5-6). and at the price for stainless (HEAPS) its just not worth it.
just to qoute................. Hi-tech Extractors (race series) Magnaflow Cat 2.5" mandell bent red back (mild steel) labour all out you should be able to get that done for aroun 900-1000 |
