i beleive the 5cyl engine is better balanced then the 6.

TO get 180rwkw out a holden v6 you would need to spend twice as much if not 3 X as much then u would for a falcon 6 to get 180rwkw.

No comparison

Just out of interest guys ...what rpm is the rev limiter set at for the I6?

What exactly does it do if you exceed the limit?

engine cuts out for a second, then when revs drop slightly, it builds up again, then cuts out again etc... making a quick doong doong doong doong doong doong sound.

For my EL - it's at 5850rpm. And a secondi s much longer than it actually does. It cuts ignition (spark) for fractions of a second in a pulsing type fashion keeping you under/at the limiter.

Cheers mate!

So it doesn't stall the motor then ...cool.

What rpm is it set at for stock I6 ...and more importantly, is it easy to remove?

I'm getting a RPD Stage 2 cam fitted i a couple of weeks at a performace workshop ...could I get them to take out the limiter?

I rekon it would be built into the ECU, rather difficult to remove without an aftermarket ECU.

Thanks mate,

It's just that I had a drag with what I think was an SS ute last nite.

I very rarely put the revs over 4000, and last nite without thinking I put my foot down and went over the 4800 mark ...just to give this commie a run!

Anyway, my stocko motor pulled all the way, and I opened up about 3 car lengths on this guy before my turn came up (didn't want to take it sideways).

This was the first time I had really gunned my beast ...and I was really impressed with the way these I6's hammer at high revs!

I was a bit concerned that I had over-revved at the time though.

Getting an RPD Stage 2 cam in a couple of weeks ...can't wait to see the difference with that baby installed!

Straight or Inline engines are inherently better balanced than V engines. The only reason V engine are used is that they reducer the overall length of the engine allowing more interior room, shorter noses, etc.

As someone said before, for NVH and the like it goes V12, I6, etc but an I12 is better than a V12... One helluva long engine bay though!!!

cheers
Scott

You're spot on about the V6 Holden's having to spend 2X as much to get the same RWK as a Falcon I6. The Holden V6 just doesn't cut it. Simply check out the Holden forums (I was majorly bored!!!).

As for revving the Holden V6 to past 7,000rpm (even 6,000rpm) HOLY s**t!!! The bloody thing would explode. The poor bastards sound like they want to rip themselves apart at 5,000rpm let alone 7,000rpm...

Whoever said that the VZ V6's aren't much chop, your dead right.
My mates BA easily outperforms both the VZ's I've driven. I was not impressed with the new DOHC V6 at all... I'd like to try a 190wk manual SV6. They would be alright...

As for the original question of I6 vs V6, if your talking Falcon 6 vs Commie 6, it's not even a comparison...
