personally i have never lost a street race with any 3.8 commonwhore of any model VN-VZ, my mate had an ecotec VS with a toyota supercharger and other mods and still had a car length on him over the 400m. i think i have raced about 25 different 3.8 commonwhores on the street within the last 18 months and they got all got put down by the mighty 4L.

Yeep. My fat, boat-like-handling Fairmont has plenty of go when I want it.

The Dev 5 is very NA, no turbo.

I'd like to know where that info came from too. I too have yet to see a dyno print out of a stage 3. Would LOVE to see one though. |

I'd rather see a quarter mile time.
dyno = no bragging rights IMHO. Not mentioning any names, *cough*really I'm not*cough*, but some workshops with dynos don't have the best reputation for repeatable dyno results. It's a bit harder to fudge a quarter mile time.

when i said the dev 5 i ment the "quickest eb falcon in aus" its in the performance ford magazine. i have been told by the creators of the alted stage 3 cam that it out powers/runs the dev 5. im only going off what i have been told

I don't think Jaysen has ever said or would say anything like that without proof mate. He doesn't seem like the 'piss in your pocket type' I'd love to see a Stage 3 do the quarter, but I also wouldn't expect a mid 13 like the JMM car unless the Stage 3 car was also stripped, running a bizarre interception chip that there is no info on anywhere, and suspension set-up for the strip.

Be very careful who you attribute quotes to.
And I'll leave it at that.

gotta say, my second car was a VT S pack, with five speed, exhaust and LSD, it pulled pretty hard, i thought it was a pretty fit example, and i test drove the VZ 190kw 6spd. just after it came out, i was very dissapointed, just didn't feel like it had an extra 40kw over my VT

DC_Todd said in his initial write up on the cam that a mate said it pulls as hard as a Dev 5. Seat of the pants isn't accurate at all. I was sure my car was going well post cam, but the dyno told me I had lost 2kw, (which was tracked down to a blocked fuel filter).
I could tell you that my stage 3 cam'ed car goes as hard as my mates GTR skyline.. without figures it means nothing. I dont have a 1/4 strip around here.. but plan to put mine down the 1/8th at the end of the month.

That's a good call. My old man used to have a VX cop pack (now has an XR6 T) which would have to be the best Commodore I've driven (which includes a manual VS Clubsport). That thing felt as quick, if not QUICKER than the two "175kw" VZ's I've driven. I know I probably don't have much cred being a Ford man, but: BA 4.0 litre N/A = very impressed, exceeded my expectations in terms of performance. Thought she would be a little more refined... VZ 3.6 litre = disappointed in it's performance and handling (handling is borderline dangerous in my humble opinion) |
